A total of 220,000 hectares of rice paddies across the country in 22 provincial capitals were affected by the floods. This is according to the National Radio of Cambodia on October 23, 2022.
According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture, of the more than 220,000 hectares affected, 110,000 hectares of rice fields were completely damaged, while 70,000 hectares could be rehabilitated.
The worst-affected provinces were Kratie, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, and Kampong Chhnang, the report said.
In addition, the damaged rice crop needs about 7,000 tons of rice seeds for rehabilitation work for the people, and so far about 6,000 tons of rice seeds have been transported to the destination and are ready to be distributed to the people.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries has prepared 180,000 kits of vegetable seeds and distributed 80,000 kits to the people by October 22.
